Happily Ever After: Megan & Eric’s Silcox Hut Wedding

Megan and Eric hosted a gorgeous, windswept and intimate wedding at The Silcox Hut in September. The Silcox Hut sits at 7,000 feet on the side of Mt. Hood, above Timberline Lodge and accessible via shuttle ride in the summer up a bumpy, dusty forestry road. We rode up with the groom and groomsmen, immediately staggered by the soaring view of not only Mt. Hood so close behind us, but Mt. Jefferson across the misty valley. This is, without doubt, one of the most scenic and unique places in Oregon for an unforgettable outdoor wedding.

Inside, we watched Megan get ready with her bridesmaids and girlfriends. The warm, wooden and stone rooms make you feel at home. Upstairs, preparations were made for a delicious dinner on beautiful tables. Bunches of roses were placed all through, giving an elegant feel to a rustic and inviting stone room. With less than fifty guests, everyone had a chance to chat at length.

After the sunny ceremony, we went out at sunset for portraits. Against a sky fading from sapphire blue to raspberry, they walked in front of the Silcox Hut with Mt. Jefferson glowing across the valley. The wind blew helpfully, making for an incredibly dramatic and romantic scene. Atmosphere like that simply doesn’t happen everyday. Wow!

Our congratulations and love to Megan and Eric!
