September in the Santa Cruz mountains is a magical time.  I could drive the roads all day, watching beams of sunlight pour through tall redwoods, and finding little enchanted trails into dense bits of forest.  Once in awhile, you'll break out of the woods and see a vista--sometimes foggy, sometimes sunny, sometimes opening to a long view of the ocean over the tops of towering trees...

One Magical Morning

In the middle of September, Udaya and I went down to Santa Cruz for a beautiful wedding up in the hills.  We got up in the morning, found some breakfast, and drove out to Coastal Dairies State Park along Highway 1.  Oh, such magic.  We enjoyed the crashing waves, sand, caves and wind-blasted cliffs almost by ourselves, rambling around the beach with bare feet and free hearts.
